The Beach

West Wittering Beach is a beautiful sandy beach that draws sunbathers, swimmers, paddlers, surfers and kitesurfers from miles around.

West Wittering Beach is blue flag certified, which means it offers not only fabulous bathing but also excellent facilities. Parking spaces are limited, so to ensure you have a place, please pre-book through JustPark.

The beautiful sandy beach sits at the mouth of Chichester Harbour and has views across to the Isle of Wight. Lifeguards operate between the middle of May and the middle of September, and for the safest bathing, keep between the flags.

There are plenty of toilets and also some showers in the beach car park, the beach café where you can enjoy breakfast and/or lunch, and a large takeaway stand operating during the summer months.

Dogs are welcome at West Wittering, but from 1st May to 30th September there is an exclusion zone, which is roughly the area in front of the length of beach huts. There are many dog bins – please clean up after your pet and keep it under control at all times.

There are some beach huts which are available for private hire through independent websites. Kite surfing is reserved for members of the West Wittering Windsurf Club and windsurfing is reserved for the WWWC from March to October. As well as full membership, you can take up Hire Membership and have your board rigged up and ready for you. See www.2xs.co.uk for further details.

East Wittering Beach is shingle, but is lovely and sandy at low tide and is near to several pubs, restaurants and cafes for you to enjoy, not to mention the fabulous selection of ice creams from the parlour right by the beach entrance. There is a small car park but this can get busy in peak months. Dogs are welcome.
